When God Calls You to Confront

Faith Warrior Chronicles
Nov 03, 2025

A man stands boldly against stormy skies as divine light breaks through darkness behind him. Arms crossed in spiritual strength, he embodies prophetic courage—speaking truth in love despite opposition. Faith Warrior rising.
Speaking truth isn’t about winning arguments—it’s about obedience to God. Sometimes love looks like a sword, cutting through deception to save a soul. That’s what Faith Warriors do.

“Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.” — Matthew 10:34
Sometimes, the hardest thing God asks us to do is speak truth to someone who doesn’t want to hear it.
Not because we’re angry. Not because we want to hurt them. But because we love them enough to risk the relationship for the sake of their soul.
This week, I had to do exactly that.
The Coach Who Talked a Good Game
A few months ago, I enrolled my son Aidan with a baseball coach who promised mentorship, character development, and a commitment to helping young athletes become better men.
He talked about his passion for the game. His dedication to the kids. His vision for building champions—not just on the field, but in life.
It sounded perfect.
But as the weeks went by, I started to see something different.
I saw a man more concerned with collecting money than mentoring kids.
He pushed expensive programs. He got upset when families said no. He avoided real communication. He deflected when confronted. His pride and ego dictated how he led.
And when we decided to leave the team? He ghosted me. No response. No grace. Just silence.
Then, the moment we parted ways, he unsubscribed from my newsletter.
That told me everything I needed to know.
The Prophetic Call
I could have just walked away. I could have let it go. I could have said, “Not my problem anymore.”
But God wouldn’t let me.
He put it on my heart to speak truth to this coach—not in anger, but in love. Not to attack him, but to warn him.
Because I used to be just like him.
I used to be driven by money, by ego, by the need to be right. I measured my worth by what I could accumulate and control. And it nearly destroyed me. It nearly destroyed my marriage, my family, my soul.
But God got ahold of me. And He showed me the truth: it’s not about the money. It’s never about the money.
The Email I Sent
I wrote him an email. I told him the truth. I warned him that the path he’s on will catch up with him. I shared my own testimony of transformation. I prayed for his soul.
And I hit send.
Not because I expect him to change. Not because I think he’ll respond. But because God called me to speak truth, and I had to obey.
When God Calls You to Confront
Here’s what I’ve learned about speaking truth in love:
1. It’s not about you.
- You’re not doing this to feel better.
- You’re not doing this to win an argument.
- You’re doing it because God asked you to.
2. You can’t control the outcome.
- They might reject it.
- They might get angry.
- They might ghost you.
- But that’s between them and God.
3. Your job is obedience, not results.
- God doesn’t ask you to change them.
- He asks you to speak truth.
- The rest is His responsibility.
4. Love sometimes looks like a sword.
- Jesus didn’t come to bring peace—He came to bring division.
- Sometimes love means confronting sin.
- Sometimes love means risking the relationship for the sake of someone’s soul.
The Cost of Silence
Ezekiel 3:18 says: “When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.”
That’s heavy.
God holds us accountable when we see someone heading down a destructive path and we say nothing.
Silence isn’t always peace. Sometimes, it’s cowardice.
What About You?
Is there someone in your life God is calling you to confront?
- A friend who’s making destructive choices?
- A family member who’s walking away from God?
- A leader who’s abusing their influence?
- A coach, a pastor, a mentor who’s more concerned with money than people?
Maybe God is calling you to speak truth.
Not in anger. Not in judgment. But in love.
Here’s how to know if it’s God:
- You’ve prayed about it. You’re not acting out of hurt feelings or personal offense.
- You’ve examined your own heart. You’re speaking from a place of humility, not superiority.
- You’re willing to risk the relationship. You care more about their soul than their approval.
- You’re surrendering the outcome. You’re not trying to control their response.
If all four are true, then speak.
The Freedom of Obedience
After I sent that email, I felt peace.
Not because I expect him to change. Not because I think he’ll respond. But because I was obedient.
And that’s all God asks.
He doesn’t ask us to fix people. He doesn’t ask us to control outcomes. He asks us to speak truth, plant seeds, and trust Him with the rest.
That’s the freedom of obedience.
Final Thoughts
If you’re in a situation where God is calling you to speak truth, don’t be afraid.
Yes, it’s uncomfortable. Yes, it’s risky. Yes, it might cost you the relationship.
But silence costs more.
Speak truth. Speak it in love. Speak it with humility. And then surrender the outcome to God.
That’s what prophets do. That’s what Faith Warriors do.
